Irish Draught filly by Harkaway Lionhawk and Irish Draught filly by Grange Augustus
Irish Draught fillies Windfield Blue Heaven and Lionwood Granuaile

Lionwood Granuaile aka "Grania" is a granddaughter of our foundation mare *Bonnie Belle Supreme, out of our *O'Leary's Irish Diamond mare Hermione, which makes Grania a second generation homebred and the third generation of this wonderful mare family on our farm. Grania is the only purebred filly by the grand old RID stallion *Grange Augustus, who is one of only two approved purebred stallions by the late English showjumper and sire Enniskeane Prince. Grange Augustus is out of the Hornby Premium mare Pilgrim's Gift, who was by the RID sire Colman, who was highly regarded for his type, movement, and bloodlines going back in direct male line to Tara (Colman is also damsire of current CCI**** eventer Apache Sauce, ridden by British eventer Mary King). Pilgrim's Gift earned her Hornby Premium with Grange Augustus (aka "Gus") as a foal at foot in 1988. Unfortunately Gus is now retired from breeding, but during his stud career he sired a large number of partbred progeny, many of whom may be found foxhunting with the Leavenworth Hunt (Kansas, USA) today. Grania's dam Hermione is a full sister to RID stallion Lionwood Kinsale's Lad. Grania's female family also produced the RID stallion Shenandoah Prince Holly and the Irish S1 stallion Frank's Fancy. Grania is linebred 4x6 to Glen Lad (458) daughter Enniskeane Countess, matriarch of the mare family which produced RID stallions Enniskeane Prince, Enniskeane Pride, Kildalton Gold, Glidawn Diamond, Diamond Lad, Diamonds are Trumps, Kildalton King, Ben Gold and American-based RIDSH stallion *Brandenburg's Windstar. Grania has her family's typical sunny disposition and type - we expect her to have loads of substance and elegance like her dam and granddam. Like both of her sisters, Grania loves to jump! Grania has been retained as a future broodmare.

Windfield Blue Heaven aka "Little Blue" was bred by our dear friend Rachael Cox in Pennysylvania. Blue is linebred to the late Blue Henry RID, damsire and paternal grandsire to several CSI*** showjumpers, including *Ado Annie, Nenagh, Killard Horizon and Magleberg's Crannagh Hero. Blue Henry was also known for the superb movement which he passed on to his progeny, including many champion broodmares and show horses in England and Ireland. Blue's dam, *Duhonw Daisy, was imported from the UK. One of Blue Henry's last purebred daughters, Daisy is a wonderful example of the traditional type RID mare that is increasingly hard to find. Daisy and Blue's female family is an old and very successful RID mare family of highly fertile producers descending from Goleen (584) daughter Moyglass Lass. Originating in the West of Ireland, this mare family produced IDHS(GB) SHR-approved showjumping stallion Cruising on Clover, Irish showjumping stallion Carlton Hill, top AES broodmare Moyglass French (dam of CCI*** eventer *The Quiet Man), and numerous additional showjumpers and RID mares. Blue's half brother (same dam) is Windfield Super Cruiser, Champion Sport Horse and Partbred Youngstock Champion at the 2006 Upperville Colt and Horse Show and the 2007 IDHSNA National Show. Blue's aunt, *Duhonw Darcy (her dam's half sister, same dam), was Champion Sport Horse Mare at the same shows. Blue is a perfect combination of her sire and dam. She has her dam's elegance, powerful quarters, substance, and gorgeous neck, combined with the rubberball elasticity and elevated movement of her sire Harkaway Lionhawk. We are excited as it looks like she may mature around 15.3-16 hands, which is more consistent with the origin of the breed than many of the IDs bred today. This lovely yearling filly is for sale. Blue would be an excellent riding or driving prospect and future foundation mare for someone looking for the hard to find smaller, true-to-type Irish Draught mare with excellent movement. Price: $10,000 firm. Contact Liz for further information.
